Emergency Communications

When disasters strike, providing communication systems for both emergency responders and civilians is critical and can save lives. Providing such systems quickly is a huge challenge. However, an Airship configured with cell phone and WiMax equipment can enable civilians the ability to reach help.  In addition radio equipment can be carried that is compatible with local first responder equipment allowing first responders communicate and to broadcast out information to civilian radios.

For events that have a warning time, such as weather events it is possible to launch a vehicle from the ground and be in position when needed. To provide this emergency service for unpredictable events an Airship could be maintained in flight, ready to move to where an event occurs. For example if 3 Airships were deployed over the US most of the US would be reachable with 12 hours.
